Martha Ellen Henry Roberds, 89, departed this life to be with her Savior on October 20, at her home in Pasadena. As all those who encountered her warm, genuine, generous personality will understand, the influence of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother extended to many, many more cherished relatives and friends! Fellow members of the Parkview Church of Christ in Pasadena especially know her to be a strong, happy and whole-hearted Christian, faithful in attendance and always eager to serve and support others with meals, cheerful words, wise counsel, and her special brand of personal, loving interest.
Martha was the second of seven children born to Myrtie Wall and Milton Martin Henry. She attended Sam Houston High School where she was a member of ROTC. After graduating, she married Wm. Winton Roberds on June 24, 1950. They were married at the home of her parents. Bill was the love of her life. After marrying, Martha began her lifelong career as a wife, mother, and homemaker.
Martha was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ and her conversion to Christ was one of her important life events. As her family grew with the birth of her four children, Martha remained devoted to Christ and teaching her children to be faithful servants as well. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her daily life. Being with family always delighted her. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with those she loved. Martha had many beloved friends and will be missed dearly by each of them. Martha was kind, welcoming, giving, and a strong, loving soul.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents and her husband William Winton Roberds; son Wm. Winton Roberds, II; daughter-in-law Billye Jo Roberds; sisters Jane Nye, Helen (Sugar) Roberts, and Dorothy Rotramel.
