Judy was born in Oceanside Ca. on December 17th, 1938 and went home to be with Jesus at the age 82 on July 23rd, 2021, in Paso Robles Ca.
Judy lived in Burlingame Ca. with her parents in her young years and went to school from Kindergarten until 3rd grade, then moved to Salinas Ca. for the rest of 3rd grade through 12th grade. She attended Salinas High School where she joined the girl’s glee club, performed in choirs and sang in church. Judy graduated from S.H.S. in 1956 then attended Hartnell College in Salinas for 2 years, studying bookkeeping. She worked a handful of jobs starting with working for her dad at Masson Drilling, K&Z Furniture Store, Tom Longs Tire Service and later worked for the Ford Dealership in Gonzales. At the age of 19, Judy married Don W. Collins, had one daughter, Karyn S. Collins, born in 1964, they later divorced. Also, while living in Salinas, Judy joined the Salinas Chapter of Sweet Adeline’s and Quartet called Chanel’s Four. She had her pitch-pipe at hand and performed in many concerts along with her mother Elgie, she sang on the radio and has a solo on a Sweet Adeline’s album.
In November of 1975, Judy married Earl F. Farar and were married for 40 ½ years until his passing. Their blended family included her daughter and his son Earl P., and daughter Terri. They lived in Montclair Ca. until 1981 then moved to Green Valley/Lancaster area. In the early 80’s she attended and worked at Lancaster Baptist Church as a Bookkeeper. Also while living in Lancaster Judy welcomed a Foreign Exchange daughter to their family (84-85) and stayed in touch. In 1998 they made their last move to Paso Robles Ca. to be closer to family.
Judy was an avid reader and loved all her many Chihuahuas over the years especially KoKo and Buddy. She enjoyed R.V. travels, boating and motorcycle riding-in the early years, collecting wind chimes from travels, collected frogs and Chihuahua figurines and blue and white floral plates. She most enjoyed family gatherings and singing with her girls in the kitchen while cooking dinner during their teenage years and would sing with her granddaughters as well. She loved blue colors and crocheting with shades of blue yarn. At 81 and 82 years, Judy sang Karaoke songs, could still harmonize and was learning to speak Filipino.
She is preceded in death by her husband Earl F. Farar, her parents P.G.”Curly” and Elgie M.Masson, her daughter Terri Farar-Smith, and her in laws, Henry and Dora Farar.
She is survived by her daughter Karyn Deaville (Matt) of Paso Robles, their 5 children and 4 grandchildren, son Earl P. Farar of Texas, his 3 sons and 5 grandchildren, Terri’s 3 children and 2 grandchildren and her Norwegian daughter Tone Nuven and her family. Also survived are numerous brother and sisters in law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The last week of Judy’s life she was surrounded by loved ones via video, phone calls and by her side, singing with her, praying with her, and bringing her joy. She loved the Lord always, her favorite saying was, “The Lord Knows”, Jeremiah 29:11.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 27th, 2021 at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park.
