Della Lavinia Shaw

Mrs. Della Hatfield Shaw, 99, of Palmetto, GA passed away peacefully on March 21, 2018 after a massive heart attack on Valentine’s Day. Born on October 27, 1918 in Webster, PA to the late Lucy and Lester Hatfield, she lived in Youngstown until 1970. Mrs. Shaw was a loving mother who loved life, her family, and caring for her sick friends. She was called the “energizer bunny”. Reading, bowling, traveling, her flowers, and the outdoors kept her busy.
Mrs. Shaw was preceded by her parents, her loving husband of 71 years, Leonard; brothers, David, Lester Jr. (Sonny), and Russell; her only sister, Emily Oliver. She is survived by her youngest brother, Kenneth of Youngstown; her son, Leonard Jr. (Lenny); her daughter, Diana (Robert) Balas; grandchildren, Brian Shaw; Janet Fordyce; Jeffrey Shaw; Jennifer (Jerry) Johnson; and Christopher (Jennifer) Balas; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild due this summer.
Memorial services will be on Monday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Palmetto Park, Palmetto, GA with Dr. J. W. Wallis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Westbury Health and Rehabilitation, 198 Hampton Street, McDonough, GA 30268 or Palmetto Park Garden Fund, 519 Perkins Road, Palmetto, GA 30268.
