Mrs. Maye C. Parkinson, 95, of Union City, passed away on October 5, 2018. A graduate of Valdosta Women’s College, Maye worked for Department of Agriculture in Macon where she met her husband, Kenneth R. Parkinson. She was later a substitute teacher for Fulton County School System and a ParaPro for hearing impaired students. She also worked many years in the Federal Archives in East Point.
Maye was a former member, for over 50 years, at Hapeville Presbyterian Church. She was later a member of the Fayette Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing and volunteering at South Fulton Medical Center, Southwest Christian Care, and the Christian City Library.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and LaRue Copeland; husband, Kenneth R. Parkinson; her twin sister, Faye Wisenbaker, and sister, Margaret Harris.
Survivors include her sons, Ken Parkinson, Jr. and Bruce C. Parkinson (Karen); daughter, Janis P. Snipes; grandchildren, Mark Snipes, Mary Snipes Jones (Andrew); Lauren Parkinson; Kelsey Parkinson; Shane McElroy (Chi Chi); Meaghan Childs (Jake); great grandchildren, Emma Jones, Wyatt McElroy, and Ethan McElroy; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10 at Fayette Presbyterian Church with Rev. Alex Moses officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
