She was born November 14, 1935, in Covington County, Alabama, a daughter of the late William Whitehead and Lyde Bell Bryant Whitehead.
Mrs. Maughon devoted her life to children- her own as well as the children of many friends and family. She worked for several years at a daycare and later kept children in her own home. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting.
In addition to he parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Samaritan Maughon, and son, William Dewayne Maughon.
Survivors include daughters, Dianne Blair and Donna Thomas; grandchildren, Billy Joe Thomas, Tonya Blair, John Kelvin Blair, and Kristy Henderson; 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm, Friday, November 15, 2019, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:00am, Saturday, November 16, 2019, in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Seminary.
