Born April 7, 1920 in Pekin to Charles and Doris (Bloomer) Penning, she married Alvin Alfred Lelm on May 31, 1940 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died October 17, 1977 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Penning, Louis Penning, and Jacob Penning; five sisters, Helen Counterman, Doris Dorsey, Ella Braden, Hazel Lawson and Betty Haller.
Surviving are one son, Larry D. (Judy) Lelm of Morton; two grandsons, David (Sharon) Lelm of Myersville, Maryland and Douglas (Nicole) Lelm of Galena, Missouri; one granddaughter, Shelli (Greg) Balzell of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Alyssa, Blake, Mason, Ethan, Logan and Sage; one great-great grandchild, Calvin and one sister, Sadie Moll of Pekin.
Ivy was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling and fishing. Some of her favorite memories were fishing trips she took to Minnesota.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mark Foglio will officiate. Visitation will be from one hour before the service. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
