Russell "Russ" A. Skaggs

Russell "Russ" A Skaggs, 71, of Delavan, Illinois passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home in Delavan.

He was born April 12, 1949 in South Pekin, IL to Lloyd and Lula (Hobbs) Skaggs. He married Mary Eads on November 24, 1992 in Sapulpa, OK. She survives.

Also surviving are five children, Dawn Skaggs, Randy Skaggs and Brandon Skaggs all of Farmington, Raymond (Tami) Davidson of Bellevue, and Kimberly (Ed) Ashburn of Creve Coeur; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, John (Alice) Skaggs of South Pekin; two sisters, Katherine (David) Wilcox of Pekin, and Debbie (Darrell) Birkey of Hopedale; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Jim Skaggs, Ralph Skaggs, Gloria Spracklen, Viola Zimmerman and Ronnie Mount; and one niece, Shelly.

Russ served in the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War and worked as a Machinist at Caterpillar Inc for over 45 years before retiring in 2016. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 and enjoyed fishing and electronics. Russ was a gun enthusiast, who loved his job as a Machinist, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved family gathering, especially the 4th of July.

A visitation will be Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Funeral Home in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

I remember when I was little I found an old doll in the sewing room at Grandma's. I love that old doll so much. And I thought he looked like Uncle Russ so that what I called him. I always had him and Grandma even made him some clothes, I still think that old doll looked like you. He was my favorite and he still is. My Russell sits on my dresser and keeps his one eye on me.
