On November 19, 2012, Chester Hazon Gibbons departed us to be with the Lord. He was born in 1925 in Prattville, Alabama (Autauga, County) and was one of 10 children born to John and Minerva Gibbons. Chester grew up in a farming community near Thorsby, Alabama (Chilton County) and later lived near Jemison, Alabama (Chilton County) until enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1943 at the age of 18. At the end of World War II, Chester returned to Alabama and enrolled in Business College in Birmingham, Alabama. He subsequently pursued related-industry entrepreneurial initiatives and concluded his business career as a successful real estate executive.

In 1949, Chester married the love of his life, Annie Merle (Doss) Gibbons and together they had 3 children: Phillip Hazon Gibbons; Patricia Lynn (Gibbons) Waters; and Gerry Wayne Gibbons; all who survive him. My Granddaddy was one of the most unique men I've ever known. I already miss his winks, his laughs, his funny stories, his hugs, and holding his hand. What a legacy...what a blessed Granddaughter I am!

Uncle Chester, a sweet and gentle giant, but much a man! I remember one of the times dad & I went fishing with Uncle Chester. Chester was learning to fish and he would throw the line with the cork so hard in the water that the fish would swim the other way! We laughed with him and had a great time and he finally even caught a few fish! Another time when we were fishing he was chased by a black snake. He ran to where we were and I went back to find the snake. He was just a little one but Chester hated those snakes! He was a very funny man and loved to joke and have a good time. I loved being around him. He was a loving and giving man who loved people and loved to help people. We love him. Aunt Annie Merle may God be with you and the family during the days ahead and may you feel the comfort and peace of our Lord. We know where he is today and he is rejoicing with his family that's gone before him. Praising & loving Jesus. We love you all, Charles & Bede Gibbons & family
