Clifford W. Sawyer, affectionately known as “Pops”, of Montevallo, AL passed away on March 18, 2019. He was born September 12, 1940 in Naples, Florida to Clifford John and Ellen Mercedes (Shengfield) Sawyer. Pops proudly served his country as a Marine and retired from the service. When he retired from the Marines, he went into business of his own as a commercial fisherman. He then began working for Boat Stuff as a boat rigger and also worked for Beier Radio in which he delivered radar equipment to technicians who would then put the equipment on crew boats, all in Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. Sawyer; his son John W. Sawyer (Dawn); his daughter Cathy Clabeaux (Dale); his brother Richard Sawyer; his grandchildren Zack and Victoria Sawyer, and Sky and Fox Clabeaux; his step-children Chuck H. Bradley, Judy A. Morris, Wayne L. Bradley, and Karen L. Bradley; 9 step-grandchildren; 2 nephews; and countless friends. He was preceded in passing by his brother, Tommy Sawyer.
A celebration of Pops’ life will be held Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. A private inurnment will be held at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL.
