Donald (Don) Capehart, 93, of Cantonment, FL passed away on May 15, 2021. He was born in Tacoma, Washington to Blanche Abbott and Carl Ray Capehart on June 2, 1927. He married Helen McDonald in December 1947 and they were married for 73 wonderful years. Don and Helen moved from North Bend, Oregon to Cantonment, Florida in 2001.
Don was a part of the United States Navy from June 6, 1945 to August 13, 1946 at the end of World War II. Don was honorably discharged from the Navy in Oakland, California. After the Navy he joined Pacific Bell (AT&T) in Richmond, California and worked as a PBX telephone repairman until he retired in 1981. He was a founding member of the Southcoast Woodcarvers of North Bend, Oregon. After moving to Florida, he joined the Florabama Cut Ups Carving Club and was a teacher of the carving craft to many in the area.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Blanche Abbott and Carl Ray Capehart, and brother Richard Capehart.
He is survived by his wife Helen C. Capehart, 2 sons Edward Capehart – Lodi, CA and Lewis/Lynette Capehart – Cantonment, FL. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, and nephews.
Services have been entrusted to Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32534. Visitation 10am-11am, Service 11am on Saturday May 22, 2021.
