Betty and family, I was so surprised to hear of Jim's passing. My heart and prayers are with you all. We share so many memories and good times. May the Lord be with you and comfort you during this time. Aren't we blessed to know he is with his Lord and you will meet together again in heaven. I have been out of touch with our mountain family, but you will always be in a special place in my heart. Love, Betty Thorsen

I have many memories of Jim Gorum. My mother kept George and Jonathan before they were old enough to go to school. Mama and Papa Castelow loved those little boys. Coach Gorum coached the football team and Betty taught in the high school. When I applied for a job at Woodham High School. and was sitting in the lobby to be interviewed,
Jim approached me with "What in the world are you doing here". He then went into the office and waved at me as he left. I went to work there and worked with him for 10 years. I came to know him as something other than a coach. He was a dean at Woodham and always was thought of highly by all who worked with him as well as the students.
He will be missed. To Betty and the boys I send my sincere condolences. Mama and Papa Castelow must be having a ball with him in heaven.
