Jo and I met later in her life. We had an instant connection and remained close through the remainder of her life. Though our connection was immediate, it took longer for her little poodle to accept me. Jo and I got together weekly and after about six months, Lucy stopped offering to bite me every time I visited. One of our favorite pastimes was riding around looking for fruit trees with ripe fruit. I will miss my dear companion.

I taught with Jo for several years at Navy Point, and my mother substituted for her in the classroom for many years before that. Jo was a wonderful teacher, and such a fun, vibrant person. I will always remember the laughs we shared at Navy Point. She was a great teacher, and her strength of character showed in everything she did. She will be missed.
