Larry was born in Oakland, California in 1949 to the late Ray and Juanita Mast, attending schools in Eureka, CA (Eureka High 1967). Larry joined the Navy after high school and was off the coast of Vietnam. After leaving the Navy he worked for various restaurants and then was with Galliano Marine Service – a part of Edison Chouest Offshore for 19 years. He regaled his friends and family with many stories of his ocean expeditions and was especially proud of being aboard ship during Robert Ballard’s exploration of “Iron Bottom Sound” in 1992.
Larry worked and lived around the country (in Eureka and Eugene) and moved to Pensacola in 2000; where he commuted to Louisiana and then worked part time for Circle K. Larry loved his family and friends and was always there to help them. He was a gentle giant with a kind heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry is survived by his sisters, Toni Cullen (Michael) and Janice Bozant of Pensacola; brothers Steve (Donna) in Eugene, OR and Ric Mast in Pensacola. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, cousins whom he loved very much.
Special thanks to all at Grandview Retirement Home who were so kind to him, and family friend, Gail Grow.
