Kantaben was born in the village of Wasanpura, Gujarat, India, on November 6, 1918. She married Chaturbhai Patel of Sunav village in 1935 and soon joined him in Kenya. They brought up three children, Kusumben (late Pravinkant) Patel of Bettendorf, Iowa, Dr. Virendra C (Manjula) Patel of Iowa City, Iowa, and Dr. Jitendra C (Dr. Rita) Patel of Peoria, Illinois. Her husband, Chaturbhai passed away in Peoria on August 17, 1996.
Following retirement in 1964, they left Kenya to live in their native village Sunav and then immigrated to USA in 1978 to join their three children. They lived with their children and passed on their faith through their exemplary God centered lives. Kantaben was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by all three children, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Kantaben was a devout Hindu and a staunch follower of the Swaminarayan faith. Since the passing of her husband, she spent much of her time in prayer and encouraging others to believe in God.
The family wishes to thank their extended Peoria family and the dedicated staff of Rosewood Care Center for the care and love they gave during her stay.
