EAST PEORIA - Quintin C. Damerell, age 89, of East Peoria passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 2:14 p.m. at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, with his family present. He was born on Jan. 31, 1932, in Washburn, IL, to Elmer and Florence (Klein) Damerell. He married Janice Anthony on Feb. 14, 1953, at the Washburn United Presbyterian Church. She survives, along with one son, Michael (Truc); one grandson, Khoi; and one sister, Ardith (Dean) Skinner. Family was very important to Quintin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Quintin was valedictorian of his class at Washburn High School. He was also a graduate of Caterpillar’s Apprentice Program, with additional education at Bradley University. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 47 years, retiring in 1997. He was an Engineer at heart and loved to fix things to understand how they worked. He also enjoyed caring for his cars. He attended Washburn United Presbyterian Church for many years. Funeral services will be private, with burial in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Although I did not know Quintin personally, his wife Jan is my first cousin. I spoke with Quintin on several occasions when I would call Jan. My deepest condolences. To Jan, Michael and family.
