Born on February 5, 1971 in Peoria, to Richard and Judy (Stewart) Thomas. She married George Michael Riggs on September 22, 1990 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her parents of Canton, daughter Sadie Diann Riggs who still lives at home; brother, Richard Thomas Jr. of Peoria, her best friend and cousin, Shelby Witherbee of St. Peters, MO; best friend and sister-in-law, Lisa Lee; best friend and neighbor, Kathy Spellious; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Lottie (Barron) Stewart, Harvey and Ramona (Andrews) Armbruster and Larry A. Thomas, her son Joseph Michael Riggs, her cousin Angie (Stewart) Hackett, who as young children were cohorts in everything. What one didn't think of the other one did.
She loved Disney. She and her family made two trips to Disney World. She loved Mickey Mouse and would order her Hallmark Disney ornaments in July, making sure to get what she wanted. She was quick witted and sharp tongued, a personality trait that she inherited from her mother and which sometimes got her into trouble. Her pat reply - " I was just Kidding."
In January 2006 she began her battle with cancer. The chemo that was meant to save her life had damaged her heart and immune system and life became a struggle and she became a hero to her mother.
A visitation will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Dennis Owens will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
