Paul was born in North York Ontario and was an employee of the City of Toronto, many of those years at the Keele Valley landfill. Shortly after marrying Margaret (Ruth Margaret) they moved to Aurora ON and then, after retirement, to Ennismore ON for some country time that Paul had always wanted.
Although he had some health issues we were surprised and saddened by his sudden drastic decline. He died on a beautiful spring day in May.
Paul has touched many lives and will always be remembered by his beloved wife, sisters, nephews, nieces, in-law connections and many friends.
Predeceased by mother Thelma Elizabeth, father Norman William and brothers David and Jon.
Paul loved to make people laugh and enjoy the moment. When he was inspiring shared laughter he was at his best. At his demanding job he helped lighten the workplace with his gift of humour. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, landscaping and a wide variety of audio-visual starting with his large collection of vinyl.
Paul’s sister Nancy remembers he was the most loving and caring brother a sister could have. He was the life of a party. Always kept others laughing, cracking jokes. “He always made me feel special. He and his wife Meg always made me feel special and appreciated. We were so close in age we felt like twins. He is loved by so many including many nieces and nephews.”
Life’s difficult times were often made easier with his sensitivity and ability to reach out. He endured some years of declining health, unable to work on the property the way he had planned. His faith continued to be very important to him. He put his faith into action, helping people where he could with great generosity of spirit.
Animals enjoyed a connection with Paul. His last cat, a rescue, followed him around like a puppy, running to the driver’s side of the truck when he pulled into the driveway. An excellent driver, he enjoyed excursions and fall vacations in the Huntsville area.
Paul’s light has moved on and we miss him beyond words. Paul’s legacy of laughter stays with us.
Respect and gratitude to the amazing response team of The Township of Selwyn Emergency Services. We thank the staff at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their care of Paul until he peacefully passed May 15, 2026.
Paul was cremated as per his express wishes and his ashes will be lovingly scattered.
The service for Paul will be June 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Comstock-Kaye in Peterborough.
