Faye was born on April 16, 1923 in Desdemona, Texas to parents Truman Carter Kitchens and Nellie Josephine Ross. Faye’s family moved to Pampa Texas where she graduated from Pampa High School in 1941 and married Paul Mentor Jenks, Jr on April 30, 1944.
Paul rejoined the Army/Air Force in 1952 after the birth of three daughters and the whole family moved to Germany. Paul and Faye traveled all over Europe, camping with their three young daughters. Many moves later, after Paul and Faye had a son, they settled in Austin Texas, where they lived the rest of their lives.
Faye was a homemaker with impeccable taste and she did love a clean and tidy home. After Paul’s retirement from the Air Force, the couple built a software business together, writing, selling and maintaining software for doctor’s offices. Faye completed several courses in computer programming in order to participate in the business.
Faye had such a feisty personality and many opinions even during her brief hospitalization in the last days of her life. Faye and Paul had many friends from their life in the Air Force, and many neighbors who became friends at the Villas of Anderson Mill. Faye was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 2006.
She is survived by her four children, Paula Belcher, Ava Rodriguez (Philip), John Jenks (Cindy), all of Austin and Dianne Law (Steve) of Devine, Texas; five grandchildren, Shannon Belcher, Dean Law, Crystene Ramirez, and Victoria and Ashley Rodriguez; one great grandson, Gabe Ramirez; two great granddaughters Hope and Sam Ramirez; two great granddaughters Maya and Cecilia Law; sister-in-law Peggy Fowler, Albuquerque, NM.
The family would like to thank Cindy Jenks, Jennifer Lane, Kate Kelly and the kind caregivers at Legacy Oaks Assisted Living who helped my mother with daily living in her last years.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10 at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in Austin.
