Murshid Shadeed Normand was born Wednesday, September 9, 1981 at 10:35 P.M. weighing 5 pounds 8 ounces, length 19 inches to Patricia A. Hollis and Wilbert Ernest Normand, Sr. Murshid, age 40, of Cedar Park, Texas, died Monday, June 20, 2022.
A graduate at the age of three (3) from “Little Angels Christian Daycare & Preschool (Wilmington, DE)”; a student at New Castle Baptist Academy (New Castle, DE); a student at Wilmington Friends School (Wilmington, DE); a student at Charter School of Math and Science (Wilmington, DE); a graduate of William Penn High School in 2000. Murshid continued his education through Florida A&M University (Tallahassee, FL) and graduated 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Design and Management.
Murshid at the age of three (3) expressed a desire to attend church. Murshid became a committed and active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church (Wilmington, DE). He was a member of Youth Christian Building Sunday School, Youth Choir, Youth Orchestra as the saxophone player, Youth Junior Ushers, Youth Banquet, Teen Bible Study Sessions, Youth Ministry Division (YPD), and benefited from the mentoring guidance of Bethel A.M.E. Church’s Sons of Allen Ministry of an assigned man to mentor boys who did not have a father in the home. Murshid’s mentor and lifetime Christian brother, Dr. Rasheen Booker continued mentoring Murshid throughout Murshid’s adult life.
Murshid as a youth was active with soccer, tennis, gymnastics (Olympiad Gymnastics School), skiing, swimming, and with the track team. He enjoyed fishing with his father, Wilbert Ernest Normand.
Murshid was employed 9 years as a City of Austin employee; current role was Manager, Customer Services. Murshid was employed over 12 years at Sonitrol of Tallahassee, FL.
Murshid was proceeded in death by his brother, Nigel Lewis; his sister, Emma Normand; and brother, Wilbert Ernest Normand, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted mother, Patricia A. Hollis; his father, Wilbert Ernest Normand, Sr.; two sisters, Shamika Fehr & Sana Cooper; 5 Aunts; 3 Uncles; brother-in-law, Tony Fehr; Sister-in-law, LuKisha Normand; Bishop Silvester Beaman (Bethel A.M.E. Church); Christian mentor and longtime friend for over 20 years, Dr. Rasheen Booker & Christian sister, Sara Cooper; beloved friends for over 20 years Sanenyah A. Timmons Jordan & Ralph Jordan; cherished god-son, Luci; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, associates, and co-workers.
A memorial service will be held in Murshid's honor and live streamed (ABOPCC Facebook) 12PM, Saturday, July 16, 2022 at A Breath of Praise Community Church, 2701 Sam Bass Road, Round Rock, Texas..
