Si L. Bingham was called by his Lord and Savior on July 17, 2013 at the age of 82. He served our country proudly in Korea as a member of the US Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge after attaining the rank of Sergeant. He then resumed a lengthy career with the telephone company working in various positions until retiring as a PBX Installer after 35 years of service. After retirement, he opened and operated Si’s Phone Service to fund his many interests. These interests included trips to the coast to fish, BBQ competitions, and travelling extensively throughout the US. He was an avid bowler who enjoyed league competition and attended many National Tournaments. These experiences provided the many detailed stories which captivated so many friends and relatives.
He was a member of the Solomon Masonic Lodge #484 for 60 years and was a past Master of the Lodge. He also served as Elder for the Capital City Christian Church and was a member of several Central Texas churches.
He was born in Mart, Texas on December 12, 1930 and lived the majority of his life in the Central Texas area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Si W. Bingham and Oshie Lee Bingham as well as his sister Jacqulyn L. Schraeder.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Roxy A. Bingham. He also leaves a son, Robert and Carolyn Bingham, a daughter, Patricia Niemie, five grand-children, James and Ashley Niemie, Joel and Caitlyn Niemie, Bonnie Bingham, Kyle Niemie and Kristal and Joel LeMaistre. His special delight was his three great grand-children Travis, Tyler and Sofia.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
