Wiley “Wes” Don Hamm was born October 19, 1945 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He had an older brother, Joe; a younger sister, Connie; and younger brother, Jackie. Don was a Lawton High School Graduate in 1964 in Oklahoma. From there, Don enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a Green Beret in the Special Forces division. Don has many accolades in the Army while making 45 parachute jumps while serving his country. Don was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1967. Don came down to Austin, Texas where he became known as "Wes" while working for Central Freight Lines. Wes met his wife, Shirley, in Austin. Wes and Shirley got married on October 18, 1969. In April of 1972, Wes and Shirley brought their first born, Chris, into the world and their second son, Blake in 1985. Wes was a great friend, coach, and loving father, gramps, and husband.
Wes is survived by his brother, Joe; his sister, Connie; his loving wife Shirley; two sons, Chris and Blake and a daughter-in-law, Tiffany; and three grandkids, Colt, Tanner and Easton Hamm.
A memorial service celebrating and remembering Wes’ life will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Road, Pflugerville, Texas.
