Gertie Mae Summerlin, age 76, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Columbus Hospice House with many of her beloved family members at her side. Early that morning, the gates of heaven opened and she was reunited with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Gertie was born January 8, 1947 in Columbus, GA to Katherine Pate and Willliam Bailey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Courts of Praise Worship Center in Phenix City, AL.
Gertie loved Jesus Christ and was a light to everyone around her. She had a way of picking people up when they felt broken. She had an enormous heart and was beautiful inside and out. She will be remembered for her Faith, love of Elvis Presley, and cooking delicious treats. She truly loved each and everyone of her family and friends and made an impact on so many lives. Her family hopes she is dancing with Elvis Presley and reunited with all her loved ones who passed before her. They know that she is home with the Lord and is no longer in pain.
We will always love and miss you. Until we meet again.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL.
Survivors include her children, Vicki Summerlin Foster, Henry Summerlin, Roger Summerlin, Tommy Summerlin; sisters, Elaine Key, Ann Bailey, Vera Pate, Martha Pate; brother, Thomas Pate, grandchildren, Tayler, Logan, Paul, Billi Jean, Holli, Lori, Jessica, Brad, Brandon, Christa, Cody and great grandchildren, Jace, Dawn Marie, River James, MaryTodd, Bella, Adalynn, Jaelynn, Jordyn, Corban, Bryson, and Kimber.
