Barbara Tatum, 83, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2018.
Born Barbara Wordowski in 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, Barbara was a graduate of Newtown High School in Queens, NY.
During the 1950s and 60s, Barbara toured the country as a professional dancer, performing in a wide variety of stage and musical shows, and dancing for such notable performers as Liberace, the Smothers Brothers, Jimmy Durante and Paul Anka.
Barbara moved to Phoenix in the 1970s, beginning a long and successful career as a tour guide in the greater Phoenix area. She was an honored member of the Arizona Tour Guides Association.
Barbara loved people, and volunteered her time as a navigator at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Barbara was often called upon to serve as a VIP liaison at the airport, working with celebrities such as Oprah, Martha Stewart, Alex Rodriquez, and Jamie Foxx.
Barbara also loved animals, and worked as a pet companion for Sleepover Rover in Phoenix.
Barbara never lost her love of dancing and in her later years joined the Golden Grannies, performing dance routines during halftime at Phoenix Suns games. She was also often spotted leading the line dancing during happy hour at Bobby Qs in Phoenix, where she enjoyed good food and good times with her many friends.
Barbara is pre-deceased by her sister Audrey, and is survived by her nephews Donald Kennedy of Bethel, CT, John Kennedy of Cary, NC, and by her many dear friends.
Barbara loved and was loved by everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 10th, at 5pm, at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Rd, Phoenix.
