Glorialee Garza

March 9, 1974September 14, 2020

Glorialee Garza was born on March 9, 1974 in Phoenix, Arizona to Trinidad and Gilberto Garza Sr.

Gloria was the sixth oldest of eight children. Growing up she loved to immerse herself in family functions such as camping and family gatherings where she developed her quick wit, compassionate spirit, and infectious smile.

In 1993, Gloria graduated from Bostrom High School before beginning her work life at Jack in the Box and Peter Piper Pizza. During her early adult years, Gloria started working at Bank of America with her sisters Lucy and Diana. Moving on from Bank of America, she worked for the Arizona Department of Revenue until medically retiring in 2003.

After her work life ended, Gloria became an avid television, film, and book buff. She also enjoyed astrology, puzzles, and traveling as she loved to experience new destinations, foods, and cultures. But, most of all, Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family.

Gloria was incredibly unique as she was loved by both her birth family and the Verduzcos – her surrogate family - alike. In 1998, Gloria became Godmother to Trent Smyer, whom she adored as if he was her own son; sharing a special, loving bond that was uniquely their own. Gloria always kept a positive attitude and a smile on her face, even when facing difficulties in her life. Her winning spirit helped her to maintain strength and inner peace that never dulled the sparkle in her heart.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father (Gilberto Garza Sr.), her surrogate father (Johnny Verduzco Sr.), and her sister Lucinda Garza-Diaz. She is survived by her mother, Trinidad, her sisters – Korina, Jamie, Rubyann, and Raquel (Rocky); her brothers – Gilberto Jr. and Alfredo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is also survived by her surrogate mother, Carmen, sisters – Diana, Rosemary, Veronica (Roni), brothers – Johnny Jr., Augustine, and Godson – Trent, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her memory and bright smile will live with us forever; forever in our hearts…

GloriaLee Garza was a good aunt, the best one you could ask for. We were roommates for 8 years and let me tell you. We had good times and bad times. She would always have me open the door for her or close it for you, get her prescriptions or going to get her Taco Bell or something she’s been craving. All the tv shows like 90 day fiancé or say yes to the dress. Or watching redbox movies. She would always tell everyone my business whenever she has the chance to gossip. That’s how the family get the info. I seen my aunts ups and downs. It’s so quiet without you texting me or FaceTime me. Commenting on Facebook. Showing me all the new foods that came out. I just want to thank you for being a great aunt to me, and a second mom to me. Watch over me and killer and my mother. From your favorite niece Trini ❤️

Where do I even begin, to pick from the memories that flood my thoughts, there's so many, good, bad, sad, we've been through it all. Gloria & Rocky, that's what everyone would say, there goes Gloria and Rocky. We were stuck together like glue, we always joked around, argued, and mostly gossiped, oh the things we told each other. She was my shoulder to lean on, my partner is crime, my strength. She was never selfish, cranky at times, but still managed to be bubbly and positive. She would always txt me or call me asking if I wanna go with her. We've always been out and about, doing her errands or just hanging out eating food we shouldn't be eating, or just hanging out at the movies, the store or at any place she decided to go to. And no matter what she would always try to support me, take care of me & encourage me. She was always there, with something positive to say and a silly thing to say because she always tried to make us feel better. She was the best sister anyone could ever have, she always went above and beyond to help, support and just be there for everyone. Even when she wasn't feeling well she still managed to try to be there for us all. All she wanted was for everyone to be happy. And it made her happy when she tried to make us happy. 😔 I'm going to miss you my dear sister Gloria. But I know I need to understand you are in peace, happy with dad and Lucy and all of your loved ones. Love you my big sister. 💞
