Lurline was born in Prescott to Lloyd Douglas Johnson and Eva Haymore Johnson and then moved to Phoenix where she was raised. After graduating from Camelback High School, she attended Brigham Young University where she met and fell in love with her husband and eternal companion, Jim. She was very proud to obtain her "MRS Degree" while there!
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She held a variety of church callings and served a mission with her husband Jim in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She had a passion for travel and enjoyed spending summers at her cabin in the mountains with family. She worked many years for Maricopa County elections serving her community and was always willing to help and serve others. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Lurline was preceded in death by her husband Jim Shumway, son Russell Shumway, grandson Zachary Mann, parents Lloyd Douglas Johnson and Eva Haymore Johnson, and sister Melody Crandall who recently passed away. She is survived by her daughters Jill Shumway (Jim Butera), Beth Winter (Bud), and Caryn Shumway, 11 grandchildren Joshua, Brittani, Steven, Austin, Tyler, Haley, Christoffer, Ahren, Paige, James, Delany, and brothers Melvyn and Robert and sisters Loni Gardner and Marilyn Ziegler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lurline Shumway's name may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2938 N. 61st Place #151 Scottsdale, Arizona 85251.
Private Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery 2300 W. Van Buren Street Phoenix, Arizona.
