After a brave battle against pancreatic cancer, David Brent Mills, age 57, passed away on October 11, 2019. David was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important --- the simplicity of living life with those you love.
David was born on February 20, 1962 the son of Hermon and Leona Mills. He grew up in the Beechwood neighborhood of Parkersburg, WV. He was the younger brother to Joyce Mills, Kathy Freeland, and Tom Mills.
David was a fantastic husband and father and found his greatest joy in his wife, Carole, and his daughters Britton and Kate. It was for them that he fought so hard and created a legacy of strength and courage.
David was a mechanical engineer, graduating from WVU in 1985. He spent his professional career in the insurance industry, but it was the relationships and friendships that he formed that set him apart from other men. David had the magical ability to find the good in people and encourage them. He was able to find the things we have in common and join us together. He will be missed immeasurably.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made to David’s Fight Club – Pancreatic Cancer Fund at PO Box 240, Gibsonia, PA 15044. It was David’s wish that we celebrate his life, not mourn his passing. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nurses at The Cancer Center and Pav 6 at UPMC Passavant Hospital and also the nurses at Good Samaritan Hospice for their love, care, and compassion.
