Norman A. Peterson of Bellevue was a good man, one of a kind. He left this world peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren on October 31, 2018. The last of 5 children, Norman was born on August 1, 1933 to Harry and Henrietta Peterson. He met his wife to be Carol in their hometown of Brooklyn, New York at a pick up stickball game on 56th street at the age of sixteen. They dated, fell in love and spent most of the next three years at their favorite spot, Coney Island. They married on November 23, 1952. He took a job at US Steel. Norm and Carol began their family two years later and had 8 children; Kathy Costa (Dennis), George (Marsha), Robert (Beatrix), Harry (Jolene), the late John Francis, Christine Kubicky (William), Ann Amendola (Mark), and Michael. The family moved from New York to Pittsburgh in 1971 where he would continue to work for US Steel through retirement. An avid bowler, Norman played on several leagues over the years. He enjoyed going to the theater, musicals and had a passion for the sport of horse racing. He was fortunate enough to attend many racetracks in various states including a special trip to Kentucky. Norman was known for being kind, patient, a practical joker who always found joy and humor in everyday life. He was an extraordinary husband and father and will be greatly missed by his wife, children, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, extended family and all who were lucky enough to have called him a friend. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm in the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc. 1014 California Ave. Avalon, PA 15202 (412-766-5600), where a memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10am.
