Jose Carlos Harres

Jose Carlos Harres, age 86, of Plano, Texas passed away on December 31, 2018. Jose was born April 22, 1932 in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil to João and Victoria Almeida Harres.
He is survived by his wife Guilhermina Schmidt Harres, son Luiz (Charlie) Harres and wife Janice Boyd Harres, daughter Victoria Harres Akers and husband Merrideth Jeran Akers, daughter Ana Maria Harres, and grandchildren: David Lane Downs and wife Robin, Christopher Ryan Downs, Natalie Rae Harres, and Andrew Boyd Harres, along with step-grandchildren Tyler Akers and wife Kristen, Jihan Akers Wells and husband Michael, Joshua Akers and wife Victoria. In Brazil, he is also survived by his sister Nina Maria Harres Tubino and nephews and nieces: Maria Christine Tubino Gonard, Maria Dione Harres Tubino, Maria Denize Campello, Liris Maria Harres Braga, Antonio Carlos Harres, Silvio Siqueira Harres, Stela Maris Harres, João Batista Harres, Nelson Harres Prato, Ligia Harres Prato, Liane Harres Rocha.
Jose immigrated to the United States – Los Angeles, CA -- in 1970, along with his devoted wife and three children. He became a proud citizen of the U.S.A. in 1979.
He was a proud Master Mason in good standing with Plano Lodge No. 768. His long professional career included some interesting adventures, like owning a coffee business in Brazil, repairing industrial clocks and being a studio technician at Universal Studios.
In 1974, Jose moved the family to Richardson, Texas – and later to Plano -- where after various career adventures he landed at Southwestern Bell and AT&T. He retired from AT&T after twenty years and spent the next 25 years taking care of his loved ones and being the go-to computer expert for family and friends.
Jose loved working on his many personal computers, making friends everywhere he went, going to McDonalds every morning to pick up lunch and then again in the afternoon to pick up coffee and cookies. But more than anything, Jose loved his family.
