Donald W. Tomlin, age 97, of Plant City, Florida passed away on Tuesday June 30, 2020. Donald was born May 11, 1923 in Avon, Ohio. Cpl. Donald W. Tomlin was a WWII disabled veteran awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was part of the 17th Air Borne who made the history making jump over the Rhine River called "Operation Varsity" on March 24, 1945.
Don was a member of John A. Hill Knights of Columbus Council # 4955 since 1982, where he served as Grand Knight and Home Corporation President. He was also a member of the Edward A. O'Neil Fourth Degree Assembly # 1534 since 1988. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Brandon, Florida as well as the DAV, American Legion, and VFW.
He is survived by his wife Donna Sue, daughter Cindy Thoman (Ted), son Tom Tomlin (Paulette), step-daughter Cheryl Logan (Doyal), five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation with family and friends will be Friday, July 17, 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm at Wells Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to James Haley Veterans Hospital and/or LifePath Hospice.
