Born in Germany, the daughter of Hans Gauerke and Frieda Hempel, she travelled to England in 1954 to study, then working, marrying and having two children. In 1967, she moved with her young family to Montreal, Canada. Beginning at 50, she completed a Bachelor in Music followed by a Masters in Musicology. She taught to many at the McGill Music Conservatory, Vanier College, and the National Theater school. She made regular contributions to the Montreal Gazette as a classical music critic. A lover of books, she was also a weekly volunteer at the Baie d'Urfé library.
We were sorry to see her go on October 31, 2023 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of Stefan Zadrozny. Loving mother of Barbara and Paul (Chantal). Cherished grandmother of Julia, Alexandre and Julian. She leaves behind many friends and neighbours.
Visitation will take place on Saturday November 25th, 2023 at Belvedere Funeral Complex, 22025 Trans-Canada Highway, Senneville QC from 1 PM followed by a celebration of her life at 2 PM.
