Fritznel Gelin was born in L’Esther, Haiti to Dieufils Gelin and Augustine Ferana Noel on November 8, 1954. He spent many of his formative years and went to school in Gonaives, Haiti. He immigrated to the United States where he later met and married Magalie Vernet on August 23, 1980 in East Orange, New Jersey.

In January 1983, a tragic car accident left Fritznel permanently paralyzed. Even this major life obstacle did not stop him from overcoming and accomplishing many life goals; the most important of which is (together with his wife) raising three daughters.

He graduated from Revelation Message Bible College. He was ordained on October 2, 1994 into the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by First Christian Church in Pompano Beach. He founded and pastored Sanctified Church of God (North Lauderdale) for over 20 years. In 2005, he became a member of the International Union of Pastors and Volunteer Chaplains. Due to the many years of ministry and service to the community, countless lives have been touched by Fritznel Gelin.

Fritznel is preceded in death by his mother, Augustine Ferana Noel; Father, Dieufils Gelin; and brother, Eric Gelin.

Fritznel is survived by his devoted wife of over 40 years, Magalie Gelin, Daughters, Nahomie Exume and family; Veronica Cyrus and family; Brigitte Sylvestre and family. His siblings; Vilaine Gelin and family, Dieulaine Veres and family, Annote Gelin and family, Lumene Gelin and family, Belange Gelin and family, Evans Gelin and family, Dieufirin Gelin and family, Okclane Gelin and family, Gorgena Gelin and family, Elena Gelin and family, Fedeline Gelin and family; and many other beloved family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, church members, and friends.

My uncle was an example of man of God, who loves his family and friends. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to witness his love for God. I know the family will deeply miss you and remember you always. For me I’m going to miss cooking for him, the special smile I’m always greeted with when I bring him food. I love you uncle.

Being Fritz and Maggie’s neighbors for thirty years, we always realized what a blessing the entire family is…their beautiful thoughts and loving ways were always appreciated …we saw the true love and devotion that Maggie and Fritz had for each other…what a tribute to marriage and its meaning….thank you Gelin family for your gracious ways . .. May the Lord keep Fritz in his Presence… we will keep you all in our prayers.

When I think of Fritznel I think of the word “Determination “. I remember in 1988 how, despite his paralysis, got behind the wheels of his van, took his young girls and his wife (my sister) and drove to Florida to look for a house where he could live comfortably with his family. Myself and other family members thought it was crazy for him to try to drive such a distance but he did and he found the house he was looking for. This story and everything else we read above of his accomplishments, if this is not determination I don’t know what is.
Rest In Peace brother in law. We will carry you in our hearts.

Fritznel Gelin was a courageous and an extraordinary man on earth. He is survived by God's grace and many lives have been positively touched by him in his ministry as a pastor. I cherished the hope to meet him one day and to tell him that he was loved behond words but sadly I never met him even he was a part of me. He was my dearest mother's big brother and he took care of her and all of his other little brothers and sisters with love, devotion, patience and courage like a father, also helped their children which I am one of them, a generous uncle. Fritznel Gelin, this memory becomes a treasure and a heartache no one can heal and now his story lives in my heart. My uncle will be missed deeply and dearly.
