February 15, 1930, Kerdevil Joseph Conze made his entry into this world. Born and raised in the town of Milot, Haiti, under the care of his mother, Nancy, and his father, Antoine. Kerdevil was a remarkable young man who got involved in business at a young age.
From his early years in business, Kerdevil was known in the northern part of Haiti as a cocoa and coffee beans speculator. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Antoinette Chanel. Their union later produced a total of six children: Marie Carmelle, Kersaint (deceased), Kernes, Kertch, Daniel and Junior.
During the late 1970’s Kerdevil immigrated to the United States, leaving behind his wife and children. From 1987 until 1989, he was able to reunite his family and settled down in Pompano Beach, Florida. “Ti Ker”, as he was known by friends and family, always enjoyed a good cold beer, preferably Heineken, and enjoyed telling silly jokes to his dear friends.
As a man of faith, Joseph always spoke of his love and reverence for the church and its liturgy, especially the Latin Mass. Joseph was a fervent Catholic who remained faithful to the Gospel and modeled the virtues of charity, hospitality, perseverance, and fortitude. When he lived in Haiti, he faithfully served his local parish of Milot as an acolyte, catechist and soloist. Here in the states, he continued to service his community parish. In his vocation as a husband and father, he exemplified the self-sacrificial love of Christ for the Church.
Kerdevil was a dedicated father, a loving husband and a proud grandfather to Chmara, Jahdziah, Kashia, Kelsey, Olivia, Chloe, and Noel. He passed in peace, at home, at the age of 89. Although he has been called to have vintage red wine and to feast with his Savior, he will surely be missed by friends and family alike, despite being in a better place. Adieu! Farewell!
