Dennis Glen Andow

June 8, 1947September 4, 2019

It is with heaviest of hearts that we must share the news that Dennis Glen Andow's earthly life came to an end on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.

He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Eva Andow, brother Leonard Andow and nephew Darryl Andow

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Lois, son Ryan (Melissa), daughter Lisa Rozwadowski (Doug), grandchildren Austin, Madyson, Tyler, Annika, Logan and Kendall. Also left to mourn his passing are brother-in-law Don Hawkins (Ethel), sister-in-law Verna Proulx, sister and brother-in-law Faye and Moe Zdebiak and 7 most cherished nieces Penny, Bonnie, Kelly, Tracy, Coral, Laura and Nicole along with many great nieces and nephews.

Dennis was an avid sports enthusiast both as a participant and spectator. He was president of the Men's slow pitch league, president of the A.V. Curling Club and a great community volunteer with many organizations. Coaching the kids in softball and soccer was one of his greatest pleasures. He was actively involved as a Trustee with the Alberni Valley United church.

Dennis fought a 40 year battle with Crohn's disease, sent his love and chose his time.

There will be a celebration of his life at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Alberni Valley United Church on Church Street in Port Alberni.

Per Dennis's wishes, no flowers please however if you wish, donations to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada 600 - 60 St. Clair Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario M4T 1N5 would be appreciated.

Our most profound gratitude to his many doctors and especially to the nursing staff at WCGH for their professional, compassionate and dignified care of Dennis during the past 5 weeks of his life.

If I kissed you, hugged you or just bugged you-then you know I loved you - "Dennis"

Lois, Ryan & Lisa, and all the family, our thoughts are with you. Dennis fought his long, hard battle with a special dignity. His circle of family and friends was huge, he will be missed.
Barry’s memories are of ball and crazy mutual friendships.
Mine go back to A.W. Neill, working with him at the credit union, and lots of mutual friends along the way.
Ever pleasant, always sincere, another admirable man passes on.
His memory and legacy carries on with you and your offspring, do him proud!

Lois, I’m so sorry to hear this. I have nothing but good memories of Dennis when he coached our ball team all those years ago. He was always so patient and kind even when we played terrible. He bore his illness with such strength and dignity, and I never heard him complain, even when we knew he wasn’t feeling well. My sincere condolences to you and all the family.
