SALMON; Stanley passed away at home surrounded by his loving family in Port Alberni, BC on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by his wife Flo, Stan is survived by his children Gale (Gord), Karen (Gerry), Ryan (Cindy), and Greg; grandchildren Kristine, Leree, Amy (Mike), Brent, Darren, Stacey, Michael (Crystal), Joel (Ashley) and Haley (Chris); 14 great grandchildren; brother Gerald (Bernice); extended family Dale (Betty), Bug (Alec) and Stan’s best friend Bea.
Born in Nanaimo, Stan came with his family to Port Alberni at a young age and grew up in the Valley. He started working as a logger with Dale, and worked for a number of smaller logging companies before going to work for MacMillan Bloedel. He retired from MacMillan Bloedel in the late 80’s, and it was then that he and Flo bought Poett Nook Marina. Stan fell in love with Poett Nook, and for the next 22 years managed the Marina and campground, enjoyed fishing on his boat the ‘Yum Chum’, and shared his love of Poett Nook with his family and friends. He made many great friends at Poett Nook over the years; Stan was fortunate to have some of these friends in Alberta, where he was welcomed every fall to hunt deer and moose. After selling Poett Nook, Stan kept a site there during the summer months, still fishing and sharing his love for Poett Nook with his family and friends. A fiercely loyal, hardworking, loving and independent man, he enjoyed life and all the adventures it brought with it.

Stan’s family wishes to thank Doctor Lund, Doctor Feyi, and Dr Wijay for their care of Stan. As well, words can’t express the gratitude to Michelle Brossoit, Home and Community Care Liaison, who helped arrange Dad’s transport home, his final wish.
A Celebration of Stan’s Life will be at 11:00am - 2:00pm on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Port Alberni Lawn Bowling Club, 4255 Wallace Street, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 3Y6. Stories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.chapelofmemories.ca
