Lucille resided in Groves since 1948. She was raised on a farm, she always had a way with animals therefore she was assigned to outside chores which she always did well. She became a real cowgirl. At the age of 13 she left the farm and moved to San Antonio where she found work in a diner, there she met her future husband Francis Pitre. When he went off to war with the Army Air Corp, she then worked with the Civil Service at Kelly Air Field as an airplane parts inspector.
