

Bob Lanese passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at his residence surrounded by loved ones at the age of 83.
Bob Lanese was born on May 8, 1936 in Flushing, NY. Bob graduated from Bayside High School in Queens, NY. After attending high school, Bob joined the United States Navy in the fall of 1955 where he reported to the U.S. Naval Construction Batallion (Navy Seabees) and tactically learned how to construct multiple naval warfare defense support systems. While with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 6, Utilityman 2nd Class Lanese participated in an elite warfare operations platoon that was charged with supplying the very first Early Warning Control defense system, with advanced HVAC refrigeration. Petty Officer 2nd Class Lanese, honorably discharged from the Navy in the Spring of 1961. The Seabees provided Bob a strong foundation for learning, building and teaching where he developed a “Can Do” attitude.
Bob had a love for continued learning and after his military service, he enrolled in night classes at the New York Trade School where he successfully completed a Mechanical design certification program. Bob held various positions allowing him to share his love for design, building and security infrastructure. He was an Inspector for the Brooklyn Union Gas Company, and a Partner in Brolan Enterprises in Scottsdale, Arizona where he supported both landscaping & contracts and security analysis through a subsidiary of the organization.
Bob found his way to Pinellas County, FL, where he graduated with Honors from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department. During his career as a Deputy Sheriff, he received multiple certifications and dedicated his time and expertise in various instructional roles as a firearms instructor and certain advanced surveillance and combat skills. It was as a Deputy Sheriff where he met the love of his life and his wife of 36 years Beverly Carol Lanese.
After Bob retired from the Sheriff’s department, he and Beverly built the Green Parrot Pet Center where they had retail pet stores in Seminole, Fl and Sebring, FL. In preparation of retirement Bob and Beverly built their final home in Zolfo Springs, FL and operated the Peace River Kennels where they bred show German Shepherds, other dogs and birds.
Bob continued his support of education and volunteered his time at the local High School in Hardee County educating high school students on narcotics and alcohol safety.
Bob loved the communities he lived in serving in numerous capacities such as church fundraising, The Sertoma Club of Scottsdale, AZ, Rifle Range Safety Officer and various hunter and firearms safety programs organized through the Boy Scouts and various clubs and programs.
Bob had a passion for writing and journaling. His hobby included writing science fiction novels, he journaled through cartoon caricatures and documented his days in a diary. His notations always included the love for his wife Beverly and her well-being and times he spent with his children and grandchildren. His notes consistently included “It was a good day” and “Yahoo”. Bob was also known for his story telling. He loved to share his experiences and was known for telling multiple lengthy stories that his family and friends never got tired of hearing. Bob was a Warsie and loved Star Wars and he never missed the Big Bang Theory on TV.
Bob cherished his time with his family –wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (who affectionately called him “Papa”). He was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Clara Lanese. Left to cherish and celebrate his life are his wife, Beverly Carol Lanese, his children and grandchildren and their spouses, great-grandchildren and his brothers.
