James Charles Balatti, passed away on August 30, 2023 at the age of 80 after a long courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Lou and Laura Wells Balatti, his brother David Balatti, and his late wife of 43 years, Diane.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Penny Yates; children Stacey, Angie, Jenny (Doug), and Christopher (Annalisa), as well as his grandchildren Cody, Chelsea, Kyleigh, Nic, and Max.
Jim prided himself on his 40 year printing career after graduating from Vancouver Tech in 1961. He liked to keep the print business alive by keeping his subscription to many newspapers that he read daily, even after the newspapers were available online. He maintained the friendships from Tech in his monthly Tuesday Woody's lunch group until recently.
The family home on Jordan Drive was purchased in 1978 and Jim loved visiting with neighbors while tending to his garden and yard on the creek over 45 years. He also looked forward to his dinners with the "Double One" crowd and was in touch with a huge circle of friends all the way back to when he was a paperboy in East Vancouver.
Weekends and vacation were often spent at Birch Bay, WA searching for great deals at the stores in Bellingham, as well as crabbing in his trusty boat "The Little Ricky".
In recent years, he enjoyed travelling with Penny and could be found exploring the world on the Cruise Ships and enjoying the best life had to offer...all while collecting his McDonald's coupons for his daily lattes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Diabetes Association.
Celebration of Life to be held September 22, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Scandinavian Cultural Centre at 6540 Thomas Street in Burnaby.
