Shirley passed away on Sunday before her 92nd birthday. It is with great sadness that we say our goodbyes to our beloved Shirley, Mom and Grandma, who will always be remembered as a strong independent woman with family at the centre of her life. Shirley was born and raised in Winnipeg where she graduated high school and worked as an office assistant.
Shirley soon was to meet the love of her life at a dance and she and Bob were married and the world travel would begin. Now being a serviceman’s wife, their life would take them from Regina Saskatchewan to Victoria BC with a few stops of Winnipeg Manitoba and Hemer Germany in between. They welcomed their three children along the way and together they became a family of friends.
After returning to Victoria, Shirley went to school and became a successful book keeper however always enjoyed camping and travelling with her family. Shirley enjoyed many hobbies which included singing and needle and thread from sewing her children’s Halloween costumes to clothes and many heirloom legacy quilts which will be part of her family for years to come. In her later years after the loss of her husband she moved to Port Coquitlam to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.
Shirley passed away peacefully and is predeceased by her husband Bob and leaves her daughters Lorraine (Mike), Michelle (Darren) and son Mark, and granddaughters Kathryn (Lyndon), Janelle (Jared), Jennifer (Anthony) and grandsons Cameron and Jordan. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
There will be a small private gathering of the immediate family. The family would like to thank you for your support during this difficult time.
Shirley’s charity of preference was the BC Cancer Foundation and a donation in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated. https://bccancerfoundation.com/donations/homepage-nav/?s_src=NavDonate
