Susan was a woman of remarkable depth, whose life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and adventure. For 58 years, she shared a bond of enduring love and companionship with her beloved husband, Thomas. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and unwavering devotion.
As a mother, Susan’s love knew no bounds. She was a source of unwavering support, guidance, and love to her sons, Tim and the late James. Her nurturing spirit and boundless affection enriched their lives immeasurably, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Susan was a dear sister to Jeanne Clarke and her husband L. Ward, and Peter Carlson and his wife Beverly. Their familial bond was a source of strength, laughter, and cherished moments shared.
Susan found solace and joy in the tranquility of island life and the soothing embrace of the water. Her love for the sea and its beauty was reflected in her artwork, where she captured the essence of landscapes and the delicate beauty of flowers with her skilled brushstrokes.
In addition to her passion for painting, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She found solace and enlightenment within the pages of her favorite books, tended to her garden with loving care, and embarked on three memorable journeys to Europe, where she immersed herself in the rich tapestry of history, culture, and art.
As an educator in the Smithtown School District, she shared her passion for learning and knowledge with generations of students. Her dedication to shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning left an enduring legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 for 2-4 and 7-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share stories of the remarkable woman she was.
