He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rosemary Holloway Burbaum of Port St. Lucie, FL (children, Tracy Holloway Laird of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Jeff Holloway of Jupiter, FL); his sons, Scott A. Burbaum of Jupiter, FL, and William V. Burbaum of Hobe Sound, FL; his daughter, Kimberly A. Moretz; his son-in-law, Robert A. Moretz; his grandsons, Gavin A. Moretz and Collin A. Moretz, all of Jupiter, FL; his sister, Kay McNaney (Dennis, Lisa, and Kelly) of Hamburg, NY; his brother, Jonathan J. Burbaum of San Francisco, CA (Nicholas of Irvine, CA, Matthew of San Jose, CA, and Patricia of Springfield, OR); and, of course, his beloved dog and companion, Duffy.
The son of the late William Allen and Ruth Harbert Burbaum of Riviera Beach, FL, Bill was born on March 16, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, and later relocated to Olean, NY. He attended Olean High School, where he played basketball and baseball, and then earned his degree in Journalism from St. Bonaventure University.
Bill’s passion for writing and playing golf lead him to a successful career with PGA of America in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, where he was an editor/publisher from 1980-1987. He then spent 12 years with the National Golf Foundation, until 1999.
Bill loved taking daily golf cart trips to the nearby dog park with Duffy, and to the chipping, putting, and driving range. He and Rosemary were active in the PGA Village community in Port St. Lucie, and he enjoyed his weekly breakfast club gatherings with his life-long friends. Anyone who knew Bill well, knew that he loved his country and enjoyed political banter. He traded weekly emails with the local newspapers and his pen pals, and had a number of articles published, and many that were not!
A celebration of life will be held at Aycock Funeral Home at Tradition in Port St. Lucie, FL on February 8, 2020 at 10am-12pm
