Alma Anne Lang Hedrick, age 91, of Yarmouth, passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018 at Brentwood Manor after a long illness. She was born in Windsor Locks, Conn the daughter of Charles & Edith A. Andrulat Lang Hedrick. Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Warren L. Hedrick, they served UCC Congregational churches in New England and Florida. Alma was a talented artist, writer of published stories and the mother of three children. Her children was her greatest project. She exposed us to the fine arts, theater and books from an early age. She was a proud proponent of racial equality and taught her children to be fair and supportive of civil rights and the simple truth of both the sameness and wonderful diversity of us all. Alma was loved, too, for her sense of humor and vibrant personality. Whether it was for a houseful of her children’s friends or a meeting at church, everyone around her felt her sense of fun like a warm hug. To her last days, she kept her family, doctors and nurses laughing. Alma lived her 91 years with humor, warmth, caring, courage and style. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her three children; Linda and her husband Everett Johnson of Cape Elizabeth, Me, Thomas and his wife Bonny Hedrick of Harwinton, CT, Richard and his wife Linda Hedrick of Warner, NH, and three grandchildren, Josh, Nathan and Matthew, and three great grandchildren. Interment will be private beside her husband in the Hedrick family plot in East Hampton, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Good Shepard Food Bank of Maine, 3121 Hotel Rd, P.O. Box 1807, Auburn, ME. 04211. Alma would had have liked this!!
