July 8, 1940 – September 2, 2018
Aruna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She touched many lives in her short 78 years.
She was born in Agra, India, the 7th of 10 children (one of six sisters and four brothers), and was known by many for her kindness, generosity and adventurous spirit. While in India, she earned a B.A. and M.A. in History. Once in the United States, she became a Licensed Tax Consultant, working at multiple tax firms over the years.
She married Dharam Yadav at the age of 22 and they raised two daughters while living in the United States and Nicaragua.
Aruna will be remembered for her grace, beauty and kindness. She was very active in the Portland community and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of all she met. She was an adaptive and creative soul who thrived on learning new things – languages, cultures, art, cooking and much more. Of her many life rewards, the one she loved most was spending time with her family and friends.
Aruna was thoughtful and considerate always remembering others and celebrating their milestones and achievements. She was charming, warm and welcoming, inviting all into her home and making them feel like a part of her family. The memories she leaves us with will not be forgotten.
She is survived by her immediate family - husband, Dharam; daughters Ruchi (Mark), Sheri (Rick); granddaughter Claire; a loving extended family in the US - Rajesh (Shubhra), Aashima (David), Naveen, Anita (Rajan), Sameer (Valerie), Mayoor, Rekha (Abhik), Varun, Rohan, Megha (Luke); and many more sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews in India.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Susan G. Komen in memory of Aruna Yadav for Stage IV/ Metastatic Breast Cancer Research (https://ww5.komen.org/).
