Dorian Elizabeth Harris, 80, of Happy Valley, OR passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8th, surrounded by loved ones. Very appropriately the Mariners game was on in the background. Dorian was born in Toronto, Canada, March 11th, 1938 and moved to Pullman, WA with her family where she graduated from Pullman High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree at Washington State. She then earned her Master’s Degree in Health and PE at the University of Oregon, rooting for her beloved Ducks ever since. Dorian spent her career in education, teaching and coaching at multiple schools. She left her post at USC in 1968, to join a team founding the athletic program at Mt Hood CC, where she spent the next 30 years teaching health and physical education and coaching volleyball, basketball, and the beginnings of the track team. Her greatest success came in volleyball where she joined the exclusive “400 Win” club. Dorian also enjoyed many a parade as a member of the infamous “One More Time Around Marching Band”, so whenever you hear “Louie-Louie”, smile and think of her.
Dorian is survived by her partner of 40 years, Gail, son, Nick Wetherbee, Katy Warren, bother, Norm and his wife Tovi, and nephews Arlen and Evan.
Dorian’s wishes were not to have a service, but rather a party in her honor featuring Cadillac Margaritas. That will take place on Saturday, July 28th, at 2:00pm at the home of Mark Wetherbee, 12138 SE Wagner St., Happy Valley, OR 97086. All family and friends are welcome to join us in honoring her memory.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Dorian’s name to the Oregon Humane Society https://oregonhumane.tfaforms.net/forms/view/23
