Frederick Henry Reid, age 71, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Tuesday July 3, 2018. Fred was born June 8, 1947 in Portland, Oregon to Walter and Anna Reid. He was one of 16 children. When Fred was younger he took pride in his newspaper delivery route.
After graduating from high school Fred went on to serve his country as a cook in the United States Army. After his service he returned to Portland where he lived at "Grandma's House" on Rodney Avenue. Fred spent his days tending to his yard and garden. He took pride in those beautiful rose bushes! As he got older he found a different joy... slot machines. Fred enjoyed trips to the casinos and local restaurants with family and friends on a regular basis. He also enjoyed activities at the Senior Living Facility he lived at, especially Bingo!
Fred will be remembered for his not so subtle “it’s time to go” vacuuming, his soft breaths in your face instead of kisses and for his quiet, gentle soul.
Fred is survived by sisters Virginia, Barbara, Della, Darlene; and brothers, Michael and Thomas. Fred also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends to cherish his memory.
Fred was preceded in death by; parents Walter and Anna Reid; and 9 brothers and sisters.
A visitation for Fred will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 9:00 AM at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with a funeral to follow at 10:00 AM. Fred will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Gardens.
