OBITUARY

Norman "Jim" James Relaford

June 20, 1942November 12, 2020

Jim was a man with a lot of love. He loved his family. He loved picking up his guitar, banjo, or ukulele and jamming with his brother, Ron. He was anywhere the fish were biting and loved a day out on the ocean on his sailboat. He loved to mix it up with the locals in Brookings, Oregon, through his time as a port commissioner and as a small business owner. He would have loved to live out his days in Brookings, but cancer had other plans for him. Jim Relaford passed from this earth on Thursday, November 12, after a feisty four year battle with cancer. He was pain-free, at peace, and surrounded by the people he loved.

He is survived by his siblings, Ron Relaford and Shannon Relaford of Salem, Oregon. He is also survived by his children, Katy Relaford of Portland, Oregon, and Brendan Relaford of Goldendale, Washington, as well as his grandchildren, James Trotter, and Leigh Trotter.

The family is very grateful to the doctors and nurses at Providence Benedictine in Mt. Angel for providing expert and compassionate care to Jim during his final days.

Jim requested no services. Contributions to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Jim was a great dad, and will be missed! His home was warm and always open to friends, and for that I thank him.
