Mr. Theron H. Butterfield passed away on February 19, 2013 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident. Funeral Services for Mr. Butterfield will be held at the Garner Funeral Service on Saturday, February 23rd at 11 am with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at the Crary Mills Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Mr. Butterfield is survived by his grandchildren Dustin Norton; Christopher and Hailey Bonno; his brothers Fred (Dorothy) Butterfield, sisters Jean Halouska, Florence Pierce, Sharon Montroy and Lenora Butterfield; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Thomas Butterfield and his wife Anna Butterfield.
Mr. Theron H. Butterfield was born on December 9, 1931 in Canton, NY to the late Arthur J. and Irene Tucker Butterfield. He was a graduate of Canton Central High School. After school he joined the United States Army. He served in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the States and on May 28, 1955 he was married to Anna Butterfield. Theron worked many years for Suburban Gas and then he went to work at St. Lawrence University in 1975 and remained there until his retirement in 1995. While there he was in the maintenance department and also was a carpenter.
Theron was a member of the United Methodist Church in Potsdam and was a former member of the West Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department.
