I met Sam in 1962 while in the Air Force, stationed in Thule, Greenland. We kept in touch through correspondence for all of these many years. Then in 2011, my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Sam at his home. Although I had not seen Sam since 1963, we began talking as though we had never been apart. I know he will be sadly missed by many. One of the many things I remember about him was how he was a fan of the Auburn Tigers and not that other team down there! Have an Old Grandad and Coke on me, good buddy. I will miss you and always remember our longtime friendship. Air Force Blue forever! Mike Franko

I am very disheartened to know about the death of our brother Sam, but I am grateful to God that he was close friend of mine. His trust in God is great example to me and his intense prayer improved many things even without his physical presence. I believe that we will meet one time and will together glorify our God. Brothers and sisters from Talne Baptist church extends the deepest condolences and sympathies to Sam’s relatives and family.

Sam was one of my first mentors at my initial Air Force assignment in the Panama Canal Zone during the late 70’s. We had some great times there and were stationed with many fine Airman and Civilian employees. Sam was always a hoot, especially at the beach. He also cared deeply for those under his Leadership. We ended up going to College together, getting our Accounting degrees from the University of West Florida. Sam was a fine man and friend, and I am so sorry to learn of his passing.

Prayers to the family. So, sorry for your loss. Bro. Sam was a bright light at Grandview Pines Baptist Church. He made everyone feel so welcomed at Church. I remember the first time I meet him, he told me he was a hugger. Those hugs will be missed. GPBC will be so empty without him. God gained such a wonderful angel. I will miss my Auburn buddy.
