Don Hollis passed away peacefully on Dec 4, 2023. Don was a full of life story-teller, honest to the core, and always willing to help a friend or neighbor. Don spent his early life constructing pulp mills across Canada, eventually ending up in Prince George for the construction and startup of Prince George Pulp. He settled in Prince George and ended up working at Canfor for 27 years until his retirement in 1993.
Don is survived by his children Sharon, Lisa and Thomas and his grandchildren Michael, Adam and Joseph, brother Ralf (Ann/wife), sister Lorraine, in-laws Betty, Joan. He is predeceased by wife Hazel, son Stephen, grandson Geoffrey, parents Herbert and Pearl, and brothers Arnold, Edmund, and Irvine.
After retirement, square dancing became one of Don's favorite pastimes, where he met his life dance partner, Marita Hausot (children Eduard, Andreas). They shared many trips to sunny destinations and enjoyed each other's company until Marita's passing in 2005.
Don's love of Nature and the Outdoors always guided him in his day-to-day life where he loved watching the moose, bears and birds from his living room.
His stories and big smiles will be missed, but he will always remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House, or the BC Wildlife Federation in Don's memory.
