It is with profound sadness that the family of Sheila Ellen Louise Nicholson announce her passing, surrounded by her loving family on December 1, 2023, age 75. Predeceased by many who loved her. Sheila is survived by her loving husband Don; adoring children Penny (Ken), Donnie (Mosie) and Ellen (Jason). She is terribly missed by her beautiful grandchildren Amber (Chris), Brianna, Amelia, Isla, Isaac, Hannah, Julie, Jason, Jakob, Spencer, Josh, Justin, Jevon, and Madelynn. She is also survived by her siblings Ron, Sheryl, and Shelley and special nieces and nephews.
Sheila grew up on a farm in Pitt Meadows with her six siblings and stood out as the eldest daughter--and for her fiery red hair. While working at the airport cafe, Sheila met a handsome young man who swept her off her feet. Together, Don and Sheila raised three children and took care of many loved ones over the years. Sheila loved completely and unconditionally and had a unique way of making every person in her life feel special. She was thoughtful, selfless, generous and full of wisdom and compassion. Sheila was a talented seamstress, famous for her quilts and crocheted crafts, and for making treats of all sorts--but most notably her signature snickerdoodles and potato salad. She had a strong faith, taught Sunday school and liked singing hymns and ‘Somebody loves you’ to her beloved family members. Sheila had a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious laugh and loved watching any crime show on TV. She also loved Christmas, dolls, changing the colour of paint in her kitchen and living room and was especially adept at stealthily slipping her grandkids a crisp $20 bill. As a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she hugged freely and never failed to say ‘Love you’ when saying goodbye. She truly was the epitome of all that is good in the world and those that knew her and loved her will forever hold her in their hearts.
I held your hand and kissed you, gently said goodbye. For the time had come to set you free,To leave this world behind. I swear I felt my heart shatter on the floor. Knowing you were leaving, Gone for evermore.
But when we meet again, and I believe we will... the songbirds will be singing, on Mockingbird Hill.
Forever in our Hearts, Always our Mom
