Ann Marie Isherwood

October 16, 1936May 9, 2021

Ann (Miniscalo) Isherwood, 84, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2021 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Providence, RI on October 16, 1936. But we knew mom was only on loan to us.

A witty woman with an endless supply of friends, Ann knew just the right buttons to push to bring a smile to your face. She was opinionated and sassy, yet kind-hearted and prayerful. A deep appreciation for fashion, Ann took great pride in her attire carefully completing the ensemble with just the right choice of earrings and necklaces. And could she cook! Ann took immense pleasure in showing off her culinary expertise…whether Italian cuisine or American comfort food, no-one ever left the table hungry.

A graduate of Katherine Gibbs school, Ann spent the majority of her career as a Legal Secretary. At age 60, she was enticed by her daughter into taking a screenwriting course. She agreed, however, it came with a price…writing was to occur ocean-side or no side. She and Suzanne went on to pen five screenplays, two of which landed on the desks of Hollywood producers. The ocean was Ann’s happy place. One could usually find Ann strolling the water’s edge at Warren Beach chatting up fellow beachgoers or curled up on a beach chair breathing in the view. In addition to being a skilled writer, Ann possessed a superb natural ability for public speaking. Her talents especially shined at the podium as a Lector for her Church. Ann loved Maple Walnut Ice Cream, digging for mussels at Colt State Park, cats and dining on Federal Hill with her family. She relished her winter trips to Florida and rarely passed up an opportunity to board an airplane to some exotic destination. The Amalfi Coast, Carmel-by-the-Sea and visiting relatives in England with her husband were amongst her most cherished memories. When the two weren’t traveling they enjoyed local concerts especially anything jazz.

Ann is survived by her husband, Thomas Isherwood and her two children, Suzanne Gill and her husband Barry as well as her son Brian Giglio and his partner, Edana Spicker, her sister-in-law Jennifer Burak, her husband Chet and nephews Kris, Jayson, Anthony and niece Gina. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Anthony Giglio who passed in 1988, and her brother Peter Miniscalco. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Ann will be sorely missed especially by her daughter who would give anything to go shoe shopping with her just one more time. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Lincolnwood Rehab for their utmost care and compassion throughout the years. Also to Kindred Hospice.

Visitation will be held Friday, 10-11 AM in the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Lincolnwood Rehab Activities Dept., 610 Smithfield Road, North Providence, RI 02904 and/or The North Providence Animal Shelter, 900 Smithfield Road, North Providence, RI 02904, would be greatly appreciated.

I will always remember the love and kindness Auntie Ann showed me from the moment I met her. I’ll miss visiting her when I had a show in her area and she would always make something yummy. Boy could she cook. She was silly and fun. So many good times and fun picnics. I will treasure you always. I love you.💕
